Christmas: panorama of Switzerland - Alpine train 6 days

Early morning meeting at the airport for the direct flight to Basel. Arrival and immediate departure for Geneva. Check in at our hotel. In the evening we will visit the historical center of the city for a first acquaintance always accompanied by our leader.

Breakfast followed by a guided tour of Geneva, which stretches from the edge of the lake of the same name and is surrounded by the Jura and Savoy Alps mountain ranges. Geneva combines French sophistication with Swiss dynamism. We will see the Palace of Nations with the largest conference center in the world, the old town, the floral Clock built in 1955, the highest fountain whose Jet reaches 140 meters high as well as the City Hall where the First Treaty of Geneva was written, but and the cathedral of St. Peter built from the 13th century. Free time in Europe's most cosmopolitan city. Then departure for Lausanne. Arrival followed by a tour, where we will see the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee, which unfolds in two sections. In the old town with Mont Repo Park, Ripon Palace, the Cathedral, the main train station and in Ouchy, on Lake Geneva and the Olympic museum. Free time for eating and shopping and departure for Geneva. Late afternoon arrival in Geneva.

Breakfast and then crossing the beautiful Swiss countryside we will arrive in Berne. The city is built on a steep bend of the river Aar, with characteristic 16th century architecture against the backdrop of the majestic Alps. In our tour we will see the cathedral of St. Vicus , the central Marktgasse artery lined with mosaic arcades, the famous Clock Tower, etc. We will then depart for Lucerne. Arrival and we start the tour of the city with the colored facades of the houses, the cobbled streets and the small squares with the fountains. A major attraction is the wooden covered medieval Kapellbrücke bridge which depicts the history of the city in 120 wood paintings. We will see the old Town Hall and then we will have free time in the cobbled historic center that gives the city a fairy-tale feel. Later we will depart for Zurich. Arrival and check-in at the hotel.

Breakfast and then we will depart for Freiburg, one of the best known and most famous university campuses in Germany, where we will take a walking tour of the historic city center to see the impressive 13th century cathedral, a typical example of romantic and Gothic style. Also, we will see the historic Kaufhaus of the 16th century which reminds us of the fact that the city was an important commercial center in the past. Our tour will end at the Town Hall Square from where a unique complex of canals and narrow cobbled streets begins with traditional restaurants famous for local game delicacies, classy cafes and beer halls. Leisure. We continue, for the famous Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen which are considered the most impressive and largest in volume of water in Europe. Have your photo taken on the special platform set up in front of the falls for adventurous visitors. Return to Zurich.

Breakfast and optional departure to Chur where we will board the Alpine train (own ticket) to the world-famous ski resort of St. Moritz which is built at an altitude of 1580 meters and is surrounded by a lake which is an ideal landscape. Originally it was a small village with thermal springs, known since medieval times. It began to develop into a winter resort from the 19th century and today it is an ideal place for skiing and in the summer for hiking. In the winter, the lake is frozen and on this peculiar "track" ice hockey matches are held with horses. We suggest you go up to the homonymous ski resort to enjoy hot coffee or chocolate overlooking the frozen lake. You can also visit one of the hotels that offer a stunning view of the lake for coffee or lunch. Then departure by train to Chur, boarding our bus and return to Zurich in the afternoon.
